Best Project 3 - Color Grids

In this project, we mainly focused on shooting photos with specific categories of color, including complementary colors, color harmonies, and color monochromes. With these photos we edited them to create different color grids. My first grid includes complementary colors of blue and orange, and I duplicated this image into a grid and changed the angle of the photo. My second grid shows color harmonies, as I edited the same photo into different moods of color. My last grid is a monochrome of green, as I edited those 9 photos to the same size and preset.

Project 3

                            Color Wheel

Photography by permalink

This photo sets a more positive and happy mood, as the focus of the photo
is primarily the bright yellow flowers and and the sun rising up behind them.
This type of color generally indicates a positive mood in the photo,  and it
pops out well because the yellow has a slight contrast with the blue sky
behind them. This photo was probably edited with more contrast and clarity
to emphasize this yellow color.

Best Project 2 - Framing and Composition

In this second project, we practiced the eight techniques of Birds Eye, Bugs Eye, Diagonals, Frame Within a Frame, Filling the Frame, Close Up, Leading Lines, and Rule of Thirds. After taking several shots, we then made a contact sheet that had a few examples of the eight frames, and now have posted the best photo of each technique.

Best Photos Project 1

For the first photo of the lincoln statue, I chose this one
because I like how the lights and reflection on the floor
lead to the subject. I edited the sharpness to help focus better
on lincoln, and also increased the contrast to have certain things
stand out more.

This shot was interesting to me because the light in the
background adds another element to the image. Also, I
made it black and white because it gave it a mood that I
                                think goes with the photo.

This third picture of Lincoln was chosen because the
light on the back of the statue really stands out, and is
an interesting angle of him. Also the background of the
view out the window added to the composition of the image.
For editing I increased the brightness because a lot of the photo
was dark, but also added some contrast to have the focus be on
                                                                            Lincoln.

I thought this photo of a bike has a great depth of field.
I tweaked the brightness of the photo a bit, but for the most
part left a lot of the photo as is, because I like the way it looks
                                  without much filtering.

I thought this photo was an interesting angle, and also
a nice composition of colors. I cropped the bottom of the
photo a bit so that it focused mainly on the shoes in
the picture rather than the jeans.

My Summer

Photo of Waterfall in Costa Rica
My summer had its ups and downs, as I had some great experiences but it also had a couple sad ones, and once again flew by like usual. I had to say goodbye to sister as she left to go to college in August, but on the brighter side had a fantastic experience when I went on a two week trip to Costa Rica in July, where I got to see picturesque waterfalls and rain forests, meet all sorts of new people, and see life in a village with a society much less privileged than our own. This gave me a completely different perspective, and was a great experience in what was for the most part a great summer.
